Terms of Use
Effective date: May 7, 2026
These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your access to and use of iwant2eat (the "Service"), operated by VolicSoftware Inc. ("we", "us"). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms.
1. The Service
iwant2eat is a private recipe vault. You can save, organise, and re-find recipes for your own personal cooking use. You can optionally share an individual recipe via a public link; sharing is opt-in and revocable at any time.
2. Your Account
You must provide accurate information when creating an account and keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for activity that happens under your account. You may delete your account at any time from the Account page; doing so deletes your recipes from our active database.
3. Subscription and Payment
iwant2eat is offered with a free trial followed by a paid subscription. Pricing and trial length are described on the Pricing page and may change prospectively. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not store your card details. You can cancel your subscription at any time, in which case it remains active until the end of the current billing period.
4. User Content — Your Rights and Responsibilities
"User Content" means anything you upload, paste, type, photograph, or email into iwant2eat — including recipes, ingredients, instructions, notes, photos, and tags.
You retain ownership of your User Content. You grant us a limited, non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, process (including with AI), back up, and display your User Content for the sole purpose of operating the Service for you. When you opt in to publicly share a recipe, you grant us the additional right to display that specific recipe to anyone with the share link until you stop sharing it.
You represent and warrant that:
- You wrote the User Content yourself, photographed it yourself, or have explicit permission from the copyright holder to upload and (if you choose to share) publicly publish it.
- The User Content does not infringe any third party's copyright, trademark, privacy, or other rights.
- You will not upload content scraped, copied, or transcribed from commercial recipe websites (such as NYT Cooking, Bon Appétit, Serious Eats, Food Network, AllRecipes, and similar publishers) and then publicly share it via iwant2eat.
Importing recipes from a third-party URL into your private vault is permitted as a personal-use convenience; publicly sharing URL-imported recipes is disabled by the Service to respect the original publisher's copyright.
We may, at our sole discretion, remove User Content that we believe in good faith violates these Terms or applicable law, or that is the subject of a valid DMCA takedown notice. See our DMCA Policy for the takedown process.
5. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Upload content that is illegal, fraudulent, defamatory, obscene, or that infringes third-party rights.
- Attempt to access another user's vault, share token, or account.
- Reverse-engineer, scrape, or systematically extract data from the Service beyond your own vault.
- Use the Service to send unsolicited commercial messages.
- Interfere with or disrupt the Service, including by overloading our servers or AI providers.
6. Repeat-Infringer Policy
We may terminate accounts that repeatedly upload infringing content. See the DMCA Policy for details on the takedown and counter-notice process.
7. AI Processing
iwant2eat uses third-party AI providers (currently Anthropic and OpenAI) to parse, refine, and embed recipes for search. By uploading a recipe, you acknowledge that its text and photos may be transmitted to these providers solely for the purpose of producing structured data and embeddings to power your vault. We do not use your User Content to train third-party models.
8. Disclaimer and Limitation of Liability
The Service is provided "as is" without warranty of any kind. We do not warrant that recipes, nutrition estimates, allergen flags, or AI-generated content are accurate, complete, or suitable for any particular purpose. Cook responsibly and consult a medical professional for dietary or allergen decisions.
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our aggregate liability arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service is limited to the amounts you paid us in the twelve months preceding the claim.
9. Termination
You may stop using the Service and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you materially breach these Terms or if required by law. We will give you reasonable notice unless doing so would harm other users or the Service.
10. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be announced in-app or by email. Continued use of the Service after a change takes effect constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising from these Terms or the Service will be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Middlesex County, New Jersey.
